Inclusion as an Essential Growth Strategy

Feb 16, 2024 | Webinars

Presenters:

By 2040, there will be about 44 million more adults age 65+ than there were in 2022. Of those, over half will be a person of color. The baby boomer generation will be the last in which people of color are a minority of the older population.

This change in demographics presents a major challenge to senior living organizations, which for decades have served an almost entirely white population. To effectively grow and extend their mission into serving new populations, senior living leaders need to fully understand what inclusion and equity really mean, and how to create a truly inclusive culture. Only then will our field be prepared to serve the senior living customer of the future.

In this webinar, we will explore what inclusion really means, then describe the benefits that creating a strong culture of trust and belonging can have for an organization—not just in serving a broader population, but by strengthening staff recruiting and retention as well.

Learning Objectives:

  • Have a better understanding of what an inclusive community culture really looks like and how to achieve it.
  • Hear examples of how decision-making by an organization’s leadership team can unwittingly have a negative impact on people and culture throughout the organization.
  • Learn why organizations that have positive DEI cultures tend to have stronger recruitment and better staff retention.
  • Understand next steps you and your organization can take to move towards building a stronger sense of inclusion and belonging in your organization.
